The classroom Grade Percentages are as follows:
Homework/Classwork: 10%
Project/Technology: 20%
Quiz: 20%
Test: 30%
Writing: 20%
ILL (Interactive Learning Log): Students have been working on an Interactive Learning Log (ILL) in their English Language Arts Class. This is a separate notebook that is solely dedicated to our English Language Arts Classroom. This is used for a variety of classroom activities such as: pasting handouts, highlighting vocabulary, daily writing prompts, writing activities, responding to assignments, and various other activities. We work together in class to paste and write in our ILLs. We update our Index everytime we insert a new activity. *If your student is absent, they are responsible for getting caught up on what their missed in their ILL. *The ILL will be taken up and graded a minimum of twice every 9 weeks.
Absences: There are absent folders located in the classroom. Students have been told, on multiple occasions, that they should check the absence folders for their specific class period before approaching me about makeup work. Students should also ask a peer what they missed. Students are held accountable for missing assignments. It is stated in the Student Handbook, that students are required to make up any missing work after 5 days following the absence. After this time, they will receive a zero on this assignment. Again, students are responsible for retrieving the missing work. It is not my responsibility to seek out students to inform them of missing work.
Reworking Assessments (Activities, Tests, Quizzes, and Essays): Students are given 5 chances to 'rework' any assessment throughout the year. They must fill out the form located in the red binder. If a student chooses to rework a specific assessment (meaning tests, quizzes, and essays), they will receive the higher of the two grades. If the student is making up an essay, they must rewrite the essay on the back of their paper. **Students can re-work any assessment or assignment during their lunch period. They are responsible for coming to my room at this time, meaning that I will not go to the lunchroom to find them.**
Cheating: If a student is caught cheating the parent/guardian will be notified immediately - through email and then a phone call - and the student will receive a zero on that assignment. Any and all students involved in the cheating will receive equal treatment. Students must take responsibility for their actions.

A Note from Ms. Parker
Parents and Guardians, I look forward to our ongoing interactions throughout the year. As mentioned on the Welcome Page, you can always contact me through email at [email protected] or [email protected] The school year has begun and the students are finding their groove in the classroom! In my classroom, students are provided a variety of learning techniques and are encouraged to enter each activity with an open mind. Students practice individual assignments, group work, pairing with peers, stations, and whole class discussions. Blended learning (working with technology and no-technology) is an emphasized strategy in my classroom. While participating in all forms of learning strategies, students are expected to follow the rules and regulations outlined in the Student Handbook. We have also worked in each class period to establish standards and consequences for each student. These include staying on topic on your Macbook and during other classroom activities. Grades are update in PowerSchools each week. Both parents and students are able to access their grades through PowerSchools.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Pittman
